From Burnout to Balance: A Creative Space for Parents Who Are Carrying Too Much

There’s a particular kind of tiredness many parents carry — the kind that doesn’t disappear after a good night’s sleep.

It’s the exhaustion of holding everything together, of being needed constantly, of feeling invisible even while doing everything.

At Artists’ Apothecary, we see this often. And we also see how powerful it can be when parents are given permission to pause, to reflect, and to be gently supported. That’s why we’re so excited to be part of Burnout to Balance, a new creative workshop series from The Mindful Parent Hub.

Why Burnout Feels So Common for Parents

Parental burnout doesn’t usually arrive all at once. It builds slowly — through constant responsibility, emotional labour, and the quiet pressure to keep going no matter how depleted you feel.

Many parents tell us they feel:

  • Emotionally exhausted or disconnected

  • Overwhelmed by mental load and invisible tasks

  • Stuck in cycles of stress, worry or self-doubt

  • Disconnected from their own needs and creativity

Burnout to Balance was created to offer a compassionate response to this — not by fixing parents, but by supporting them.

A Three-Part Creative Wellbeing Series

This series brings together wellbeing coaching and guided artmaking, offering parents a supportive, non-judgemental space to explore their inner landscape.

Each session stands alone, but together they form a gentle journey from awareness to balance.

1. Parental Burnout + Guided Art Journaling

Wednesday 25 February / Friday 27 February / Choose from 3 London Locations

Art Journaling

This first workshop explores what parental burnout really is and how it shows up in everyday life. Through guided art journaling, participants are invited to reflect on their experiences, emotions and energy levels — without pressure to “fix” anything.

The focus is on noticing, naming, and being kind to what’s present.

2. The Parental Plate + Feelings Wheel Activity

Wednesday 4 March / Friday 6 March / Choose from 3 London Locations

So many parents feel like their plate is overflowing — school commitments, work demands, family needs, emotional labour — with very little space left for themselves.

This session explores the invisible load of parenting and how it affects our wellbeing. Using a Feelings Wheel activity alongside creative reflection, participants are supported to identify emotions, boundaries and unmet needs, and to begin thinking about what could be gently taken off the plate.

3. Balance + Emotional Landscape Artwork

Wednesday 10 March / Friday 12 March / Choose from 3 London Locations

The final workshop invites parents to explore balance — not as something perfect or fixed, but as something personal and evolving.

Through the creation of an emotional landscape artwork, participants reflect on stress, anxiety, calm and regulation, and how these show up in their inner world. This session offers tools and creative practices to support ongoing balance beyond the workshops.

Creating Space for Parents to Be Held

At Artists’ Apothecary, we believe creativity isn’t about talent or productivity — it’s about expression, processing, and care. Burnout to Balance reflects this belief deeply.

If you’re a parent who feels stretched thin, unseen, or quietly exhausted, this series offers something simple but powerful:
space to be human, supported, and creative — together.
